9/18 Early Bird Storylines

Extremely busy day ahead in both sexes for soccer, so let’s get to it. Notre Dame plays Day 2 of a back-to-back against Camden, who’s looking to break out of the land of the winless and the home of the crap. Interesting game as the old largest member of the TVL (Whitesboro) takes on the new largest member (Proctor). Alexandria Bay, 4-0-1 and featuring our Boys Soccer Athlete of the Week Ian Kearns, takes on a formidable foe in 3-0-1 Copenhagen at their place. Baldwinsville looks to flex at Auburn, Clinton heads up 12 a little ways to Adirondack, General Brown looks to even up its record in a Frontier B battle against winless South Jeff. Class D defending state champs Hamilton take on Class C defending sectional champs (if I remember correctly) Cooperstown. Holland Patent brings its modified team to Canastota to play their varsity and win. RFA takes on New Hartford, Day 2 of the Stone Rd. Showdown as Mt. Markham & Sauquoit square off. The friendly rivalry between future schoolmates continues as Mohawk takes on Herkimer. Corcoran & Nottingham battle for the rights to their part of the city, and plenty of other games taking place up north. Sherburne comes to the valley to take on Ilion, WCV looks to continue their winning ways against Little Falls (and maybe this one won’t be overturned due to an illegal player), and a fun one as a strong MPH squad takes on a strong Fabius squad. The Brothers of CBA take on Fowler, and F-M & Central Square have the Battle of the ‘Burbs. Chittenango heads west to Marcellus, the Route 11 showdown takes off as Indian River treks from Philadelphia (New York, people) to Watertown. The backyard battle commences as VVS (they have 2 wins, so Very Very Sucky can’t be used for their boys program as of now) heads across the Turning Stone to Oneida. A lot more games, but we’ll switch over to the girls. A strong Camden team heads to Notre Dame, a team that just got beat, demoralized, kicked around, dirtied up, pissed on, and had their lunch money taken from Remsen yesterday. The same Utica-area battles take place (Proctor/Whitesboro, New Hartford/RFA, Oneida/Very Very Sucky). One of the other scoring juggernauts getting slightly overshadowed by Erin O’Connor in Kristie Klein of Caz is in action, as her team takes on Ludden. J-D heads up to Mexico; the Brookfield Beavers have McGraw comin to town! Well, to Mt. Markham, since Brookfield’s field is in the process of growing back after being renovated this summer. Old Forge & Oriskany look to get back on the right track against each other. The Victor of the Valleys takes place tomorrow, as Otselic heads to Stockbridge. Daga goes to Pulaski, Solvay comes to Chittenango, West Genny makes the trip to C-NS. And in field hockey… C-NS/Liverpool. Need I say more? No. It doesn’t matter what sport it is.. it’s friggin’ C-NS/Liverpool. MVT will be at Mohawk/Herkimer boys soccer, at Herkimer Elementary Stadium starting at 6:00! Herkimer looks to finally break into the W column, but have a stiff test with Paul Joyce and the boys heading to town. See ya there!
