What a wonderful day for sports! Beautiful outside, and MVT was represented at 3 high school games tonight: Herkimer/Camden boys, Hamilton/Poland boys, and Old Forge/Herkimer girls. We’ll get to them all – but let’s get to the full recap.

Start with the fellas. Herkimer got by winless Camden 2-0. Nick Marollo ripped one through & Andrew Stilwell got his 1st varsity goal. Cooperstown had a Cooperstown-like performance, beating Mohawk 4-0, all 4 in the 1st half. Michael Rowley had 2 goals and an assist. Frankfort dismantled Morrisville 8-2 – 4 goals and 2 assists from Dan Kislyak, Kyle Unser with 2 and 2. Ben Owens scored the lone goal for Clinton and they held on to beat Adirondack 1-0. I have nothing to say about Little Falls right now… they just got beat 8-0 by Owen D. Young. I know ODY is an improving soccer program, but.. seriously. Bradlee Edick got a hat trick & a dime, Maxwell Crisman had a goal and 2 assists, & Dustin Monk had 2 goals. Colby Barnhart scored the lone goal for McGraw and Ryan White got yet another shutout as they beat Otselic Valley 1-0. Sherburne now 5-3-1 after defeating Ilion 2-1. Sauquoit scored both goals in the 2nd half to get a 2-1 comeback W over Westmoreland, Alex Plamondon scored both of them for the Indians. Hamilton and Poland played to a very entertaining scoreless draw at HCCC. Poland for sure had their chances, just came up empty. I’m sure they’ll see each other farther on in October. Tyler Plows had a hat trick & a dime in Mt. Markham’s 5-0 W over Waterville – if you’re counting, that’s 14 goals in the last 3 games. Mike Gras got the shutout for the Mustangs. Faith Heritage got 2 goals from Ian Finch and 1 & 1 from Michael Cathcart in Faith Heritage’s 6-1 W over Cato-Meridian. MPH got 2 from Solomon Ochieng and a goal & an assist hat trick from Gerrit Church in their 4-0 W over winless Bishop Grimes. CBA breaks out with 3 in the 2nd half and gets a 4-0 W over J-D behind a hat trick from Andrew DePerro – Mike Smith gets the shutout in goal. Homer and Jordan-Elbridge play 100 minutes and can’t determine a winner, 1-1 final. Westhill stays undefeated at 7-0 and Conor Powell gets a pair of goals in their 7-1 W over Marcellus. Former Athlete of the Week Ian Kearns did his thing, scoring all 4 of Alexandria Bay’s goals in their 4-1 W over Beaver River – A-Bay yet to lose a game at 6-0-1. In our Jiffy “No Lube” Beatdown of the Night, Copenhagen now 5-0-1, Belleville still winless after a final score of 14-0. Wow. I don’t know whether there was that much of a difference or if there was some running up the score or what, but that’s bigger than Kirstie Alley when she stops the Jenny Craig. 10 players got in the scoring action, led by an Antonio Figueroa hat trick. Travis Clark & Breven Jacobs had 2 goals & an assist apiece. Indian River now 5-2 after beating South Jeff 3-0; Tyler Cook 2 goals and Jacob LaClair gets the shutout. In a game that would be a Jiffy mention on most nights, IHC wiped their asses with Sandy Creek, 10-0 final. 8 players got in on the action, and Jarrod Smith got the shutout. Most of the scoring done in the 2nd half as LaFargeville beats South Lewis 5-2, led by 2 goals and an assist from Hunter Ainsworth. Thousand Islands picked up 2 goals & 3 assists from Scott McKain in their 6-2 W over Sackets. Lowville scored all 3 of theirs in the 2nd half and beat Lyme 3-1. Finally, Tyler Biolsi had another good game, getting a goal and an assist on the other goal in Carthage’s 2-1 W over General Brown.

Slightly lighter of a day in girls soccer, but plenty of games on tap. Jenna Sherwood 2 goals, Michaela Soules was dimin’ kids with 4 assists as Camden beat Oneida 5-0 to improve to 6-1-1. Teigha Ward saw the back of the net twice in Ilion’s 4-2 W over Frankfort in a battle between .500 teams. Herkimer got the 1-0 W over Old Forge, Chelsea Jory with the shutout and McKenzie Pine with the goal – check the Twitter for full updates there. Erin O’Connor picked up.. you guessed it.. a hat trick! And Joleen Marfone scored a goal and had 2 assists as Remsen beat Adirondack 5-0. If you’re counting, Remsen is now outscoring teams 39-1 over 7 games. Caz got 2 goals and an assist from Kristie Klein in their 3-2 W over Chittenango. Westhill improves to 6-2-1 by beating Carthage 1-0 – Maggie Tripodi the lone goal for Westhill, Samantha Peebles gets another shutout. Ludden gets a pair of goals from Kelly Granteed and a goal and 2 dimes from Shelby Hunter in their 5-1 W over Solvay. Jordan-Elbridge gets its first win of the year in a 5-3 W over Phoenix, Alexis Rouse scored twice for the winners. Finally, South Lewis scores 5 in the 1st half on the way to their 6-0 W over LaFargeville. 6 players scored a goal each, Rachel Newell & Jaeden Ossant got 2 assists apiece with a goal.

Time for fockeyyyyy. New Hartford now 6-2 after beating Whitesboro 2-1 – MaryKate Alessandrini scored for the Spartans. Hannah White gets the shutout for C-NS and they improve to 4-0-1 after their 2-0 W over Port Byron. Marissa Penge and Morgan Thomas both score for Liverpool, and Megan Evangelista gets a shutout as they beat F-M 2-0. Last but not least, Paige McKenna gets a goal off a Mallory Porch assist, and Morgan Starczewski gets a 2 save shutout in Baldwinsville’s 1-0 W over Homer.

You know the drill already!
